Medina Sidonia

  1. City in the province of Cadiz, Andalusia, in southern modern Spain.
  2. Town belonging to Leonor Núñez de Guzmán, the mistress of Alfonso XI of Castile. On the king's death, Alfonso Fernández Coronel refused to hold the town for her and handed it back. As she took charge of the town, rumour had it that she was gathering her sons and relatives together giving rise to much suspicion about her and her family's intentions.  [Pedro, ch. 17: 26-27]
  3. Place where Queen Blanche, wife of Pedro of Castile, was put to death by her husband's order. [Pedro, ch. 16: 101; ch. 29: 86]
